MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Hello All,

‘Tis the season — for giving, thanking, reflecting, and connecting. I’m sure we’re all elbow-deep in holiday preparations and I hope you are finding the joy in it. We’ve accomplished amazing things this year and we all deserve a celebration.

As we end the year and look toward 2022, I am putting my focus on my relationships. I think, of course, of my family, but also the relationships I build and nurture at work and in the community. It is easy to be connected these days, but it takes effort and care to create strong bonds; I hope we are all willing to put in that effort. Through these relationships, we can all learn from each other, seeing new perspectives and gaining deeper understanding. I want everyone at Trivium to feel they have a place in our organization, that they are vital, respected, and accepted.

To reach that goal, Human Resources is forming an employee committee focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The DE&I Committee will help Trivium to foster diversity and ensure our culture is welcoming and inclusive. Serving individuals with disabilities, we have always been advocates for integration and inclusion and I’m eager to see how this committee can expand and improve upon that foundation. You have received an email or s-comm inviting you to apply for a place on the committee and I encourage you all to consider it.

Celebrating 10 years at Trivium this month! 

A little about me: I grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska. I have two older sisters. My family and I moved to Missouri Valley in 2000, where I attended middle school and high school and met my husband. We have been married for 10 years and have two children, a daughter and a son. We love to travel — we purchased an RV trailer this past summer and look forward to our weekend camping trips! 

Fun Fact: I wanted to be a photographer. 

What I Like About Working at Trivium: In my 10 years with Trivium, I was a Residential Coach the first eight years and have been a Residential Coordinator the last two. I love that I have the experience of a DSP and can relate well to my team and assist them in improving the clients' lives. I’m grateful for the relationships I have developed with my team and clients that I serve, and the impact we make on the clients' lives.

I know what is expected of me at work.

When you arrive at work, do you know what to do? What about at the end of your shift? And all those hours in between? Do you know what your supervisor expects of you and how to work with your team? 

Having clear expectations makes work more enjoyable and flow more smoothly. It can be frustrating not knowing what to do or what is expected, so please ask your supervisor when things are uncertain. Speak to your coworkers about your needs and expectations and ask them about their own. The reciprocity of expectations at every level and across teams will help build trust and remind us we’re all working towards the same mission. 

Our work, and therefore our expectations, are not stagnant. Things are constantly evolving or changing; new clients move into homes or join our groups, new employees are added to our teams, and improved policies are implemented — all of which can shift expectations a bit. Have your expectations for your team changed? Have their expectations for you changed? Please ask them, because the answer may surprise you. Remember, every day, every shift is a good time to seek feedback!
